Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Lake Nona Region

Answers for Our Patients’ Most Common Inquiries

We hear a lot of different dental questions every day, and we’ve taken the time to address some of the most common inquiries below. Knowing more about dental care will make it easier for you to protect your teeth and gums, after all! Give us a call at any time if you have a question that we haven’t answered here.

How Often Do I Need to See the Dentist?

The average healthy person should visit the dentist once every six months for a professional checkup along with a thorough cleaning. This preventive approach lets our team catch and treat cavities or gum disease at their earliest stages, and they can even stop certain dental problems from developing in the first place.

Can You Treat My Children?

Yes, we treat patients of all ages, including the youngest members of your family. We’ll help your little one grow accustomed to the environment of our dental office, and we’ll provide treatments that will help keep their teeth and gums safe while their mouths continue to grow and change.

How is BOTOX® Used at a Dental Office?

We can use BOTOX® for its traditional cosmetic purpose – that is, reducing facial wrinkles and lines. That said, we can also use it as a TMJ treatment. The injection stops the jaw from making the unconscious movements that contribute to your pain, thus helping you find relief while also giving your jaw a chance to heal.

What Counts as a Dental Emergency?

A dental emergency can include any oral health issue that:

  • Causes severe pain
  • Results in a lost tooth or loose teeth
  • Is caused by an infection
  • Has resulted in bleeding from the mouth

All these problems require immediate attention to stop your pain and keep your natural smile intact. Our trained dental team can treat many different dental emergencies, so we invite you to call as soon as you realize you need urgent dental care. (Life-threatening emergencies such as a fractured jaw should be treated at the ER first, but we can handle your dental care afterwards.)

What Can I Do About Crooked or Misaligned Teeth?

Even an adult can undergo orthodontic treatment to correct crooked teeth. Our dental office offers both traditional braces and Invisalign®. The former is best for making more complex corrections, but if you only have a mild or moderate orthodontic issue, Invisalign® is more convenient.

Do You Place Dental Implants?

Yes, our dental team has the training and technology to place dental implants in-house, which can save you time and money that you would have otherwise had to spend to see a specialist at some other location. Set up an implant consultation with us so that we can help you decide whether it’s the best option for your tooth loss.

Will You Take My Insurance?

We are in-network with Delta Dental and take the insurance plans provided by a number of local employers. If you call our dental office, we can confirm whether we take your plan or not.
